Art Lessons at the MonElissa Studio: Overview
Ever wondered if you could paint? If you had the right stuff to see the world as an artist sees it?
I offer art classes in oil and acrylic. I am a trained tech and am able to guide you towards finding your own style through structured exercises, experimentation and “happy mistakes”!
All student work on their own individual projects – you choose your own subject matter and project size. This means that students need not wait until a certain date but can instead join in anytime there is an opening available.
You will learn at your own pace with hands on instruction as you need it. Classes are small, allowing lots of time for individual attention and consulting about your projects one on one.
Coffee and tea, music and the occasional glass of wine help to create a relaxed, comfortable and fun atmosphere. The comfortable and airy garden studio and the company of beginner to advanced art students all in the same class develops adelightful ambiance that promotes creativity. Relax and enjoy a wonderfully creative atmosphere!
Work towards having a painting ready to hang in one of my student shows – these have proven very popular and it is so much fun to see your work on the wall of a real gallery. Bring your friends and family to the opening to see what you have accomplished.

“I have been with Elissa for over 1 1/2 years and everything I know about oil painting came from her. Classes are small so you get plenty of attention. All ideas are allowed and taken into consideration. She has plenty of experience and always listens to questions and suggestions. A fun class that I look forward to weekly.” Vera Dover, Parksville. “Elissa was a wonderful teacher who made learning acrylic painting fun. Her work is very inspiring as well.” Sandi Digras “After finishing my 2nd series of lessons I know Elissa herself is one talented artist! As you work in her inspiring studio, you can try to emulate her style, but while she encourages you to try various techniques and be brave, she respects the direction your style takes and helps you produce a work you can view with pride. Her classes are relaxed and fun!” Sally Isaksen “I had a wonderful time as Elissa’s student. Her instruction is clear, enthusiasm contagious and energy inspiring. I highly recommend her to beginners and experienced painters alike.” Darlene Kellett Elissa’s classes are fun and information filled. “ Rose for Tito” which I painted with her is still my favorite acrylic painting hanging in my house. I really enjoyed my classes and hope to take further classes in the future. Thank you! Rosemary
